Welcome to Control Customs UK.
These Terms and Conditions govern purchases and services provided by Control Customs UK Ltd through our website, www.controlcustomsuk.com, and through orders arranged directly with our team.
We specialise in bespoke carbon fibre steering wheels, leather and Alcantara steering wheel re-trims, custom steering wheel reshaping and related automotive interior products.
By placing an order, you agree to these Terms and Conditions, subject to your statutory consumer rights.
We offer a range of steering wheel products and customisation services, including:
Carbon fibre steering wheels manufactured to customer specifications.
Leather and Alcantara steering wheel re-trims.
Custom reshaping and bespoke steering wheel designs.
Complete steering wheels supplied outright.
Exchange steering wheels arranged directly with our team.
Associated automotive interior components and accessories.
Products may be manufactured, re-trimmed or customised using original OEM steering wheel cores, as specified in the individual product description or agreed order details.
All products and services are supplied according to the specifications confirmed at the time of ordering.
Customers may send their existing steering wheel to Control Customs UK for re-trimming, reshaping or other agreed customisation work.
The original steering wheel remains the customer’s property.
Customers are responsible for securely packaging their steering wheel and arranging delivery to the address provided by our team.
We recommend using a tracked and appropriately insured delivery service.
Customers should remove personal accessories or items not required for the agreed work, unless instructed otherwise.
Upon receiving the steering wheel, we may inspect its condition and suitability for the requested work.
If existing damage, previous modifications or compatibility issues are identified, we will contact the customer before proceeding with any changes to the agreed specifications or price.
Customers may purchase a complete steering wheel without sending their original steering wheel to us.
Outright purchases are available through our online shop and, where agreed, through direct orders.
The product will be supplied according to the description and customisation options selected.
Airbags, multifunction buttons, heating components and other accessories are included only where expressly stated in the product description or order confirmation.
An exchange service may be available through direct arrangement with Control Customs UK.
Under this arrangement, a replacement steering wheel is supplied subject to the agreed exchange conditions and, where applicable, a refundable holding deposit.
The deposit amount, return deadline, acceptable condition of the original steering wheel and circumstances affecting the deposit refund will be confirmed in writing before the order is accepted.
The holding deposit will be refunded in accordance with those agreed conditions once the original steering wheel has been received and inspected.
If the returned steering wheel does not meet the agreed exchange conditions, we will explain the issue and any proposed deduction or additional charge before resolving the matter.
Exchange services are not currently offered as a standard online checkout option.
Customers are responsible for providing accurate vehicle and steering wheel information, including where applicable:
Vehicle manufacturer, model and year.
Steering wheel type and existing configuration.
Required materials, colours, stitching and design options.
Heating, multifunction controls and driver-assistance requirements.
Any other relevant vehicle modifications or compatibility information.
Customers should contact us before ordering if they are uncertain about compatibility.
Not all steering wheel designs or electronic functions are interchangeable between vehicles, even where the steering wheels appear visually similar.
Where we identify a potential compatibility issue, we may request further information before proceeding.
We are responsible for supplying products and services that conform to the agreed description and applicable legal requirements.
Many of our steering wheels are individually manufactured or customised according to customer specifications.
Customers should carefully review their selections before submitting an order.
We may contact customers to confirm details where additional information is required.
Any requested changes after an order has been accepted are subject to feasibility, production progress and any applicable statutory rights.
Where changes are possible, additional charges or revised production times will be communicated and agreed before the changes are made.
Under Regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, the statutory 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right does not generally apply to goods genuinely made to the customer’s specifications or clearly personalised.
This exemption may apply to qualifying bespoke carbon fibre steering wheels and other individually manufactured or personalised products.
It does not automatically apply to every product simply because it is described as made to order.
Where the exemption applies, cancellation or changes after order acceptance are at our discretion, unless the customer has other applicable legal rights.
Where a customer supplies their own steering wheel for re-trimming or modification, the order may constitute a service contract or a contract involving both goods and services.
Applicable statutory cancellation rights will be respected according to the nature of the contract.
Where a service contract carries a statutory 14-day cancellation right, the cancellation period generally begins when the contract is entered into.
We will not begin providing a service during an applicable cancellation period unless the customer has expressly requested early commencement.
If the customer validly cancels after requesting early commencement, a proportionate charge may apply for services already provided, where permitted by law and provided the required cancellation information was supplied.
Where a service has been fully performed during the cancellation period, the statutory cancellation right may be lost only where the applicable legal requirements have been satisfied.
Where an order includes goods and services, the applicable cancellation rules will depend on the legal classification of the contract.
Eligible non-custom products purchased online may be cancelled within 14 days after delivery without providing a reason.
Customers must notify us within the applicable cancellation period and return the goods within 14 days after notifying us of cancellation.
Unless otherwise agreed or required by law, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning goods following a change-of-mind cancellation, provided this cost was properly disclosed before purchase.
Refunds, including applicable standard outbound delivery charges, will be issued in accordance with consumer legislation.
We may make a lawful deduction for diminished value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
The bespoke nature of a product does not remove statutory rights where goods or services are faulty, misdescribed or otherwise fail to meet applicable legal standards.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or restricts those rights.
Please refer to our Returns Policy for further information.
All prices are displayed in the currency indicated on the website or agreed during a direct order.
Applicable taxes, delivery charges and other mandatory costs will be disclosed before the customer completes their purchase.
Full payment is generally required at checkout unless an alternative payment arrangement has been expressly agreed.
We accept the payment methods displayed during checkout or confirmed for direct orders.
An order is subject to payment authorisation and acceptance.
We reserve the right to contact customers where an obvious pricing or product configuration error is identified before an order is accepted.
Production times vary depending on the steering wheel design, materials, customisation and service selected.
Estimated turnaround times are provided on individual product pages or confirmed in writing for direct orders.
Standard steering wheel re-trims, custom reshaping, carbon fibre manufacturing and orders including additional custom components may have different production times.
For customer-supplied steering wheels, the stated production period will normally begin once the steering wheel has been received and all required specifications have been confirmed, where this has been clearly communicated before ordering.
For outright and exchange purchases, the applicable production arrangements will be confirmed according to the order.
Production estimates are not guaranteed delivery dates unless a specific deadline has been expressly agreed.
We will notify customers of significant delays and respect their applicable statutory rights concerning delivery and cancellation.
Shipping arrangements and charges depend on the delivery destination, product size and applicable service.
Delivery charges will be displayed during checkout or confirmed before a direct order is accepted.
Where available, tracking information will be provided once an order has been dispatched.
For customer-supplied steering wheels, customers are responsible for arranging and paying for delivery to us unless otherwise agreed.
We recommend appropriate packaging and transit insurance.
Where Control Customs UK arranges delivery to a consumer, responsibility for the goods during transit remains subject to applicable consumer legislation.
Goods will be delivered within the agreed timeframe. Where no different delivery period has been agreed, applicable statutory delivery rules will apply.
For additional information, please refer to our Shipping and Delivery page.
We accept international orders where shipping is available to the customer’s destination.
International delivery times may vary due to courier operations, customs processing and local import procedures.
Customers outside the United Kingdom may be responsible for import duties, customs charges and local taxes where these are not included in the purchase price.
Any such arrangements will be communicated as clearly as reasonably possible before ordering.
Customers are responsible for checking applicable local vehicle modification and installation requirements.
Customer-supplied steering wheels remain the property of the customer.
Control Customs UK will take reasonable care of these items while they are in our possession.
We are not responsible for pre-existing defects or damage that we did not cause, but this does not exclude liability for loss or damage resulting from our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.
If a steering wheel is found to be unsuitable for the agreed work, we will contact the customer to discuss the available options.
Additional repairs, modifications or charges will not be undertaken without the customer’s agreement.
Any return arrangements for an unsuitable or cancelled customer-supplied steering wheel will be handled according to the contract and applicable consumer law.
We aim to provide high-quality workmanship and products that conform to their agreed specifications.
Goods supplied to consumers must meet applicable requirements under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including satisfactory quality, fitness for purpose and conformity with their description.
Services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill.
Where goods or services fail to meet applicable statutory standards, customers may be entitled to remedies including repair, replacement, repeat performance, price reduction or refund, depending on the circumstances.
For qualifying faulty goods, the statutory short-term right to reject will generally apply within 30 days, with further rights potentially available after that period.
There is no contractual 30-day reporting deadline that removes statutory rights.
If a customer believes a product or service is faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied, they should contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Please provide:
Order number or proof of purchase.
Description of the issue.
Relevant photographs or videos where available.
Vehicle and installation details where relevant.
We may request additional information or a reasonable opportunity to inspect the product before determining the appropriate remedy.
Where a fault is confirmed, any remedy and associated costs will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer legislation.
Customers should avoid continuing to use a steering wheel where they reasonably suspect a safety-related defect.
Steering wheels, airbags, electronic controls and associated components form part of a vehicle’s safety and control systems.
We recommend that steering wheels and related components are installed by a suitably qualified professional following the vehicle manufacturer’s procedures.
Customers should verify that all relevant controls, heating functions, warning systems and driver-assistance features operate correctly before using the vehicle.
Control Customs UK does not guarantee that a feature will operate on a vehicle where that feature was not originally fitted or where compatibility has not been expressly confirmed.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Carbon fibre, leather and Alcantara products may exhibit natural variations in texture, grain, weave pattern and appearance.
Screen settings, lighting and photography may affect how colours and finishes appear.
Minor natural variations do not necessarily constitute defects, provided the product conforms to the agreed description and applicable quality standards.
Customers requiring a particular colour, finish or design detail should confirm their requirements before ordering.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Nothing in these terms affects a consumer’s statutory rights.
Any limitation of liability will apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law and subject to the requirement that contractual terms are fair.
Control Customs UK may update these Terms and Conditions periodically.
Updated terms will apply to future orders from their effective date.
Orders already accepted will generally remain subject to the terms applicable when the contract was entered into, unless a change is required by law or expressly agreed with the customer.

Consumers residing elsewhere in the United Kingdom or in another jurisdiction retain any mandatory legal protections applicable to them.
Nothing in these terms prevents consumers from bringing proceedings in a court where applicable consumer law permits.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or override any statutory consumer rights.
Where any provision conflicts with mandatory consumer protection legislation, the applicable legal requirements will take precedence.
